Spyre simply signed him to a deal, period, regardless of where he decided to commit. Remember when people were upset about that? We had big threads about people complaining why Spyre would give big bucks to a player who wasn't obligated to attend UT. But this circumvents, per what people are reporting, the new NCAA legislation that is coming down. I don't believe that what Spyre is doing can be stopped.
While we don't know exactly what the NCAA is planning to do, it appears to target schools that broke rules about boosters and inducement. UT and Spyre spent a lot of time putting this program together in a way that followed all existing rules.
So far as I can tell, we good.
