Hey guys, Ben Parker from Stanford Rivals here. On Sunday, I was at a
Latter Day Saint-LGBTQ alliance fireside that featured Steve Young as the main speaker. Young was talking about his book "The Law of Love".
Steve Young — Hall of Fame quarterback, successful investor, philanthropist, gospel doctrine teacher, author, and great friend of the Hearth. We are very pleased to welcome Steve on February 26th. Steve will be speaking on his recent book The Law of Love. “The law of love is loving as G

Towards the very end of the fireside, there was a Q&A session and the final question asked Young to share his Reggie White story. Young said he and Reggie were really close friends all throughout their time in the league. They came into the league at the same time, Young's dad helped him get an agent, etc. Just really close friends.
Young said that while many people consider Lawrence Taylor to be the greatest defensive player of all-time, he felt it was Reggie White because he was like 6'5", 300+ pounds, and could move like a gazelle. The way he described it was he had the agility to do things on the field that usually only smaller guys could do.
Young also said whenever he faced White, he would hear Reggie coming as soon as he dropped back to pass. Reggie was screaming and yelling, playing with reckless abandon and such passion. He said whenever Reggie sacked him, it was like getting wrapped up in this big bear hug and every time, Reggie would roll Steve onto his stomach and hold him before striking up a conversation with him. And the conversation would continue throughout the game. "How's your dad?" "Wanna grab dinner after the game?" "We should catch up." "How is everything with you and your family?" That kinda stuff. Steve said he'd be like "I'm good Reggie" lol.
Steve said that Reggie was a great example of being a fierce competitor while also being a guy who he could be friends with and have a great relationship with off the field. He just really spoke highly of Reggie and the kind of person he was. How he was so strong in his Christian faith, wanting to get guys baptized at all-star games, and just really lived his faith. He said Reggie was able to visit Israel before he died and how much that meant to him. He felt like Reggie truly embodied what "The Law of Love" is all about.
Steve also said that he really appreciated how Reggie respected his faith as a Latter Day Saint and truly loved all people. Just an all-around great guy.
Anyways, I thought I would pass this on to all of you since Reggie is such a legend at Tennessee. Hope you all are doing well!
