Last night I was very pleased with our second half offense and how we handled a leaded. The ball didn’t stick, we kept it moving and got it touched lots if guys hands. We got it into the post for Grant to do a bit of his work and passes were crisp all around to the open man good improvement.

Real basketball talk.

I was terribly displeased with our 2nd half offensive gameplan last night. Seemed from about the 12 minute mark on we had Lamonte (and I'm not ragging on Lamonte) bring the ball down and dribble just inside the half court line until there were less than 15 seconds on the shot clock before we initiated any offense. South Carolina didn't have to work at all on defense as a result.

Thankfully it worked out. Lamonte making that right side mid-range jumper and then the steal that led to the Admiral corner three were just hard nose basketball players making plays, and sometime you gotta have that. But overall that was one of the poorest coaching jobs I have seen from Barnes, and he is usually strong strategically. South Carolina could rest completely on defense and then was making us hustle on the other end.

My only guess is that Barnes felt Lamonte was the only guard he could trust last night and SC was doing a good job of preventing the ball from getting to Grant and Admiral in places to make plays so we rode it out and tried to limit turnover (which worked). But I still hope I never see that gameplan again.

What thoughts has the GQ?
