Against BG we rushed for 399 net yards on 64 attempts for an average of 6.2 yards per attempt.
I went back and looked at opponents from last season that were on the level of or perhaps worse than BG and saw this:
Utah State - 110 net yards on 39 attempts for 2.8 YPA
Arkansas State - 168 net yards on 45 attempts for 3.7 YPA
UTC - 123 net yards on 42 attempts for 2.9 YPA
Just one game, but on the surface this seems like a huge leap forward for our running game. Statistics indicate that last year's team would have to have thrown the ball all over the field to beat BG. Yet we won without really needing to throw it on Saturday.
