You never want to put to much on one game. Bowl games are a hard thing to hang your hat on, good or bad. Looking at it most of the bowl games were terrible. Who always wins the bowl pickem game at work. Some lady that picks games by the team colors. What Im concerned about are the constant problems form the season and bowl games. This team has to play disciplined. Penalties equal losses for this team. Must be more emphasis on defense. Without constant pass rush you will never have effective def. DB's cant cover for 5 to 7 seconds if the WR's are any good.
As good as the points are on offense we have plenty to improve on. We have to get better everywhere. The OL must get better. The RB's have to have better vision and we need to get bigger. Careful looking at average per play. If you run 5 plays and 4 go for 2 yards and 1 goes for 60 whats the average? Hooker must get better. I never understood why people thought he might go pro...He is where no close to being ready for the Pro's. He is a system QB at this time.He is a good QB not a great QB. He is an OK runner but thats all you need. But you cant miss that many open throws. You have to know when to throw the ball away. Looking back it could have been 35 to 13 at halftime. There is a lot to look forward to next season. I think Heapel needs to play more people on offense. You need more players playing and you cant always be afraid to put guys in there when you can. Thats how they get better. Think if we had to opt outs at WR. We would hardly have any guys that have played. Recruiting is an adjustment.
If you cant recruit like the big boys (Bama, Ga,) and we cant. This team must get older and play a lot of 4th and 5th year seniors. Which means a lot of redshirts and getting kids to stay with the program. Anyway...My 2 cents worth...
