Was sitting in Stokley watching a basketball game and, in those days the players would sit in 2 parallel rows of the side of the gym floor and Mears would often pace up and down in front of the players ranting and raving and suddenly Mears kicked the folding chair into the lap of Rupert, a 6'10" black kid from Knoxville; apparently that startled and scared Rupert who jumped straight up out of his chain and fell on the floor.
The laughter from the crowd was immediate and loud.
As I remember, Rupert either quit the team later or was run off. One of those incidents one had to have been there to truly appreciate humor.
