Good morning....
Looking for some HVAC advice. Here's my situation:
- Bought a 2635, two story, 1972 house in Brentwood.
- One, 4 ton unit that was replaced 2 years ago. Ruud...was $10,600!
- 1 massive air return downstairs by stairs
The older couple that lived here before stayed on the main level right by the unit.
We have elected to have our master upstairs. The air flow coming out of the ceiling cassettes upstairs is pretty weak, especially in the master. The master is upstairs on the other side of the house.
I end up having to play the register game on the main level to get airflow upstairs.
Here's what I've been thinking :
Put 3, 7k mini split, ceiling cassette units upstairs in the 3 bedrooms. I like the cassette idea because I have existing cassette registers that will mitigate the eyesore factor.
Would then block off the main ductwork right at the return on the main level. That damn 4 ton unit would rock out the main level....about 1400 square feet.
Any advice? Lots of options out there.
