You couldn't be more wrong and you are probably the same folks that said he didn't fit our system and he's too slow and we don't want him for the last year.
Phillips has a family that does very well financially for themselves. They aren't looking for money and they can certainly afford to pay for a recruiting trip to Baton Rouge. Sure...I don't doubt that LSU prob found a way to pay for the visit behind the scenes. But there was no bag man that flipped LSU and no one from the MidState Posse "got paid" or had anything to do with him flipping. Yes Phillips is an NPA kid but has pretty much handled the entire recruiting process with just his parents and himself.
Bottom line is Tennessee didn't want him when he was narrowing down his schools. He initially fell in love with Oklahoma. LSU has been on him for a while. When Ed O got the job they turned up the heat. Ed O loves him. They have sold him on the idea of coming in and playing MLB as a freshman and persuaded him that was a better fit for him than playing against so many spread teams in the Big 12. I'm sure Jacoby was a factor as well.
Tennesee missed the eval on this one. It happens but this one is hard cause he's a 5star mid TN kid that was very interested in possibly coming to Tennesee.....until he felt snubbed. You gotta admit, getting initially snubbed by the Homestate school could certainly make a kid lose interest
