Vols came in at #17...not that bad really all things considered, could have been top 10ish had we kept it between the lines a little the last ~15 years.
17. Tennessee
Record: 396-204-11 (.657)
Average: 17.91
National championships: 1998
Score: 16.91
Like Nebraska, the Vols have a storied program that has not captured a national or conference championship since the late 1990s. Unlike Nebraska, the Vols couldn’t be considered overwhelmingly dominant in the preceding three decades. They had plenty of stellar seasons, including runs of top-10 teams in the early 1970s and late 1990s, but they have won five SEC titles in 50 years. Even when at the top of their game, they have often played second fiddle to Alabama or Florida.
They rank in the top 15 in only three categories: 14th in AP top-five finishes (six) and 15th in average SRS rating (10.83) and AP top-10 finishes (12). The past decade has especially taken its toll on the Vols’ numbers, as they had a winning percentage of just .504 in the 2010s.
