Banging chicks, Need sleep

Bought my kids some baby chicks for Easter.
They make all kinds of racket.... I tried putting a towel inside the box, but afraid they'll suffocate. Moved them downstairs/garage, but they're still loud. Too cold to go outside.
Any ideas?
