Went on a deep dive into Barnes NCAAT history, and I think it’s interesting when you take into account the seeding he’s had and the respective record.
He has a reputation for early exits, and when you look at the overall record, you could certainly say that, but here’s some interesting data to refute it when he has a team with a Top 16 seeding:
He’s been a 4 seed or better 9 times (this year will make 10)
- Won round one game each time
- 6 sweet 16s
- 3 elite 8s
- 1 final four
what’s crazy to me is how often he had lower seeding at Texas. Most of his early exits were as a 6 seed or lower, which isn’t ideal but also not unexpected. Last year lost in a 5/12 matchup that happens.
