I’m a lifelong basketball fan. Grew up in Western KY where roundball is king. Have followed the sport closely for more than 50 years. Rick Barnes is an elite, Hall of Fame coach. He’s evolved and adapted to changes in the game over the years, including this year. He is coaching better now than ever.
It is abundantly clear that his goal is to win a national championship before he hangs it up. With what he has built here, that is a realistic goal. The state of our program is this: As long as he is here we will be in the hunt for a national championship. I wouldn’t bet against him. I just don’t understand why anyone would want a different coach.
