Please.....please.....please....remember that prior to this staff UT was supposedly coached on defense by 2 men who were WIZARDS in DB coaching. I mean Jeremy Pruitt & Derrick Ansley. I mean those 2 guys were Professor Albus Dumbledore quality DB coaches!!! Even with the 2 wizards teaching the same dbs that played last night, those dbs allowed opponents to complete nearly 70% of the passes in 2020. Well, take away transfers Key Lawrence (OK) Henry T (Bama), Q Crouch (Mich State), Deandre Johnson (Miami), and the NFL bound Bryce Thompson, and this coaching staff was left WAY short on talent.
If recognized defensive wizards (Ansley & Pruitt are coaching DBs in the NFL now) could not prevent 70% pass completion percentages with these same players.....don't assume Coach Martinez is all at fault.
No one enjoyed that scene last night on Defense. BUT....this defensive staff has been hamstrung all year.
