I say that Doug Atkins was arguably the best defensive lineman ever to play at UT. Reggie White, Albert Haynesworth and John Henderson were all really good, but Doug was the best! Doug was a defensive lineman that played at 6'8" and 285 lbs when most lineman were around 220 lbs. And he controlled his entire side of the field. He also went on to be the same dominant force in the NFL for years and years. I saw a video of him on TV where he demonstrated how he "clothes lined" apposing lineman and virtually took their head off. Of course that move is banned today. Will freshman Kahlil McKenzie be an even better better defensive player in his career? He looks like he may have the same dominance as Doug had back in the 1950's.
