Please forgive me if any of these questions are basic in nature, but I truly would like a better understanding of the process of what goes into the hiring of an OC.
1. I would presume that Jones would bring in someone that has run/does run an offense very similar to what we currently run. Is that fair? i.e. I wouldn't see him even considering bringing in a guy that runs a pro style, correct?
2. If the answer to #1 is yes, then is it a situation where the new OC, whoever that is, is in charge of our current offense and it stays the same but maybe adds a few new wrinkles or plays? Or is it a situation where it could be a complete overhaul of the zone read, all new terminology, etc...Seems like it would be easier to keep our current offensive system and make a few adjustments and have 1 person learn that, vs. changing terminology, philosophy, etc..and having the entire offense learn something new. However, I would imagine any new coordinator would want to bring their own system with them, correct?
3. When Fulmer hired Clawson, did our basic offense stay the same and the only change (although significant) was the flipping of the line to strong side and weak side? Or did Clawson bring in all new plays, formations, etc....
Hope these questions make sense and thanks in advance.
