Im asking for thoughts on two positions today....more to come. Thanks for your input.
1. WR...we are just loaded.
Pig Howard and Von Pearson are the staples. They are currently injury free and the most consistent last year. They are penciled in starters. After that, I think M. North, back from injury, is your third starter.
Next in line has to be Josh Smith returning from injury. He has so much potential. Then Croom, also returning from injury, has major potential.
Sixth in line has to be Malone. You also have Jonathon Johnson who the coaches love and is really solid in the slot.
Thats seven WR, a two-deep in the 3 WR set plus one. Thoughts?
2. LB
My major question is this: At the LB position can you play your top 3 overall athletes similar to what you do on the OL? If so, Maggitt, Reaves-Maybin are penciled in at the 4-3. However, you don't have a MLB in that group. A recent article mentioned C. Mcdowell as fighting for a starting spot. No way he can play MLB at his size, am I right? But he would be your best athlete IMO. Or, more likely, does he back up Reaves-Maybin. Or does he start along side Reaves-Maybin as the second LB in the nickel package? In the 4-3, who starts among Bates, Johnson, Bynum, and Kirkland. All four are fighting for the MLB spot. I think Bates and Kirkland end up being your top 2 in the 4-3. Finally you have Weatherd who was a specialist last year, but with his talent he will be on the field more this year.
In summary, my guess is the following:
4-3
Reaves-Maybin; C. Mcdowell
Bates; Kirkland
Maggitt; Weatherd
4-2/Nickel
Reaves-Maybin; McDowell
Weatherd; McDowell
Thoughts???
