I'm sure it's going to come into play sooner rather than later so can you explain to us what the protocol is for the medical observer during the game? Is it like a replay official that buzzes down and tells the ref that a certain player should come out of the game?
Also, I know the SEC has adopted it but what about games against non-conf teams that haven't adopted the medical observer. For example (and I don't know if the Big 12 has adopted it) but what is the role of the medical observer in the UT/OU game if an OU player seems to get dinged? Is he responsible for calling down? Does he have that authority?
Just curious how all this works and maybe you guys covered it in an article and I didn't see it. Thanks.
