The schools: Georgia, LSU, Ole Miss, Alabama, Auburn
The breakdown: Of all the players on this list, Akers might be the one with which each school feels legitimately confident. Akers has recently taken a ton of visits and raved about each trip. He doesn’t appear to be tipping his hand about which school truly leads anytime soon.
The pick: LSU. The smart money here is on Ole Miss but with the recent problems in Oxford, it could open the door for LSU to land Akers.
The above is from an article Woody posted this morning where he previewed 5 recruiting battles in the SEC. Him projecting Akers to LSU doesn't surprise me, as LSU would obviously be selling any RB recruit on the fact that they can step right in after Fournette leaves after this year. But I was surprised to not see the Vols as one of the 5 schools in the mix. Based on what you know, does that surprise you? I realize everyone in the Rivals network gets information from a variety of sources, but you all have been pretty consistent in thinking Tennessee was in the mix at least on this one. Have you heard anything lately that makes you change your mind?
