Butch truly deserves credit in both catagories. He is recruiting lights out 3 years straight, buidling a 4th. We are on the uptic and will be competing for the SEC the next 2 years, baring no major issues.
He knows what he wants and does what he thinks he should, regardless what others think. However, he has a way of serving us his medicine greater than any coach that I can remember.
He knows Debord's name will get a ton of critics. I can honestly say, i'm a glass half empty on this decision. So what does Butch do? He pulls 3 names out and says how they are instramental in the hiring process to date.
1. Fulmer - Butch knows there is a faithful following to Fulmer. All he had to to was mention his name as part of the process and those followers would get on board with Debord.
2. Manning - the golden child - there's not 1 TN fan that I know that is not 100% behind manning. being able to use his name will prove to get another 50% of the naysayers off his back and on the Debord train.
3. Gruden - This is the icing on the cake. The hard core guys all here his name and wet their pants.
will we hear directly from any of these gentlemen regarding their endorsement of Debord? probably not, but getting to plug their names in the process certainly won't hurt.
