A great program builder who has solidified our program into national relevance, while at the same time be terrible in the NCAAT based on his history? I personally love Coach Barnes, but he is not any more off limits for criticism than he is praise. I think we had a bad night and our opponent played out if their mind. It happens every year to someone. Statistically speaking, it happens every year to a Barnes coached team.
Essentially this post offers no insight, but only my reflection on the situation. I’m not sure what’s the best answer. There aren’t too many other coaches of his caliber out there in terms of regular season performance. We just won our first SECT in 43 years. Yet that same team just lost a very winnable game. In the end, sports are sports and these things happen often.
