Can the 2022 Vols take the leap in year 2 like the '21 Ole Miss Rebels & '21 Arkansas Razorbacks did?

In 2020 Ole Miss went 5-5 with a high powered offense & statistically the worst defense in D1 football. 4 out of their 5 losses were extremely close games where the defense just could not get a stop. The offense generated a ton of excitement for their fanbase going into 2021. In the 2021 season the offense still showed how high powered it could be but the defense improved just enough (from 126th nationally to 96th) to close out some games that allowed them to win 10 games for the first time in school histoy.

The 2020 Razorbacks went 3-7 but 4 of those losses were close games that generated some excitement for their fanbase heading into the 2021 season. In year 2 Arkansas finished their regular season 8-4 then won their bowl game to finish 9-4. Briles led their offense to the 28th best offense in the country but the defense made a jump from 106th nationally to 50th in 2021.

I see our 2022 Vols in the same mold as those two programs last year. We have our QB, our offense will once again be one of the best in the nation. Can the defense make just enough improvement to finish off some games & allow us to improve from 7-5 to 9-3? 10-2? Our schedule sets up for a major leap. Can we do it. One of the thought process in CFB is you know what you have in a HC in year 2. I think we will be closer to the 2021 Razorbacks than the 2021 Rebels record wise.
