I recently had the opportunity to collaborate with a OC/QB Coach at a big time (7A) high school in Georgia. It's a fairly rare opportunity for me and thought I'd pass some info along. Among other things, I asked him his thoughts on the crop of QBs coming out of the state of Georgia this year. The guy was very prideful of his Georgia roots and the competition / commitment level in the Peach State. He was really fired up talking Georgia HS football. However, his comments on Emory Jones were not positive. According to this coach, Emory does not like being coached hard / corrected and isn't a kid who "gets it". Described him as a kid who does not put in the extra time it takes to be a special QB and competes at a lower level of competition in Georgia. This coach knew (quite well) Emory's father's coach in high school and described him as much the same - miles of talent and inches of work ethic - For a guy who loves Georgia HS football he was pretty sour speaking about Emory.

Conversely, this coach spoke glowingly of Trevor Lawrence. Trevor plays at high level (5 or 6A I believe) but said that he (Cartersville apparently) faces "dogs" at the highest level - I'm assuming 7A schools. He said that Trevor is legit and that this kid "deals". Described Trevor as being the best he's seen come out of Georgia and that he's a competitive kid that does all the right things as a QB.

He said he wasn't nearly as familiar with Justin Fields and thus didn't comment on him.

Practically all of this is shorthand and not verbatim comments but I found them very interesting and thought the board would as well. As for more pertinent topics to Vols fans - I'm very thankful we landed Martinez and hope we hold onto him throughout the process.
