I'm at the NBA Players Association Top-100 camp at UVA for the next couple of days and have had a chance to talk to a few prospects the new staff is going after hard.
We'll have some individual stories on some guys over the next few days, but just want to pass along a few names that are reciprocating some interest in the Vols.
(I'm on my phone to preemptively respond to the complaints about lack of links)
DeRiante Jenkins, a really bouncy wing from South Carolina is hearing a ton from the Vols and sounds like he will make an unofficial visit this summer.
James Banks (not the QB) a really well-regarded post from ATL told me Tennessee is recruiting him as hard as anyone and he has a really open mind about the new staff and taking a visit.
A couple of kids from Texas, Victor Bailey, a 2017 wing from Austin and 2016 wing Kameron McGusty from Katy are both being recruited heavily by the staff and are at least expressing some interest in visiting.
Quintin Goodin from Campbellsville, Ky. Is having. A really nice camp and right now I expect him to at least visit unofficially this summer and it feels like the Vols could creep in there as a serious contender.
Tony Bradley is a really skilled center from Florida that the Vols are chasing hard. Not going to say they are getting a visit yet, but he tells me he's at least interested and I think Tennessee has some ties there from Rob Lanier's stint at Florida.
Lastly 2017 prospect MJ Walker from Jonesboro, Ga is here and is probably better known as a WR prospect on the gridiron than as a shooting guard. I would politely guess that he has a brighter future in football than basketball after seeing him do a little of both and after visiting with some people tonight think the Butch and Vols will be a large player for him if he goes that direction but he definitely has the attention of the UT hoops staff
