Last 2 weeks (14 days) - 26.6 million doses distributed/ 22.2 million jabs given
Very impressive, especially with the weather interruption.
Single Pfizer vaccine shot provides strong protection for those who've had Covid-19, UK studies suggest. Just one dose of Pfizer/BioNTech's coronavirus vaccine can induce a strong enough immune response in people who have already had Covid-19 that it could protect from future disease, according to two new papers published in the journal The Lancet on Thursday. The researchers found that in those who had a previous natural infection, vaccination increased their antibody levels more than 140-fold.

In late January, Novavax shared positive results from its phase 3 clinical trials in the U.K., announcing it's its two-dose vaccine is almost 90% effective against preventing symptomatic forms of COVID-19. Worth noting: The vaccine was tested when the highly infectious U.K. variant (B.1.1.7) was widely circulating and 60% effective in study participants in South Africa. Still likely 2-3 months away.

Do lock-downs / mask mandates work?
Looking at data from lock-down states California, Illinois, Pennsylvania, New York vs open states Texas & Florida presents a perplexing finding.
When asked to explain the similar COVID results in CA & FLA, which have quite different approaches, President Biden’s senior White House health advisor on the COVID-19 response Andy Slavitt “Look, there’s so much of this virus that we think we understand, that we think we can predict, that’s just a little beyond our explanation,” “As we all have learned by this time, this is a virus that continues to surprise us,”. (MSNBC)
ABC News noted “With opposite COVID-19 strategies, you’d maybe expect the pandemic’s outcome to be very different in each of these two states. If you look at cases per 100,000 people in each of the two, taking away population as a factor, they’re actually doing just about the same. “
Operation Warp Speed
National Institutes of Health director Francis Collins (Fauci's boss) said the leaders who championed the effort deserves credit for the “breathtaking” coronavirus vaccine development.
“The Operation Warp Speed, for which I give a great deal of credit to former HHS Secretary Alex Azar, was an effort that many of us were not initially convinced was going to be necessary. And it was thought about as a Manhattan Project,” Collins said.
Collins noted vaccines “got done in 11 months from when we first knew about this virus is at least five years faster than it’s ever been before.”
At the rate we're progressing, we could reach a point in 3-4 months where we have more vaccine than arms to jab. This assumes vaccine will not be approved for under 16 by then.
