SEC postpones start of volleyball, cross country and soccer seasons

The Southeastern Conference postponed all competition in volleyball, cross country and soccer until Aug. 31 on Tuesday. The conference's delay was made to "provide additional time to prepare for the safe return of competition on an adjusted timeline," according to a release by the conference.

Now that athletes have returned to campus and team activities are well under way, the NCAA is expected to issue the next iteration of its "Resocialization" protocols, possibly this week. The NCAA last issued its guidelines for the return to campus in late May.

"I believe it's too early to be making those decisions," Bowlsby said following a Tuesday meeting of conference athletic directors. "Frankly, we haven't been advised to do that by our scientists and medical advisors. We've been advised to move forward slowly and constantly re-evaluate and that's what we'll keep doing until we've told it's inadvisable."
