Many interesting things from that article.
1. "Debord noted that at this point in the season with the stakes being what they are, you can’t really be overly cautious as a play-caller and let the experience of particular players dictate what you want to do as an offense. “I really don't try (to stay away from calls based on personnel) because those guys have practiced those things. If it's something that a kid maybe hasn't practiced we will stay away from it,” Debord shared.
First of all, it is interesting that Debord doesn't see his playcalling as overly cautious. Secondly, he conflicts his own statements - "can't let experience of players dictate playcalling" followed up with "if a kid hasn't practiced it, we stay away from it." This guys is a complete knuckleball.
2. with the team having a meeting and airing grievances, very curious if there are any players who believe another QB should get a shot. I know Dobbs has been great to this program, but I would be stunned if some of them would not welcome a change, particularly those catching balls. Dobbs' decision making has been horrific far too often and that has got to wear on teammates at some point. Also curious if other players thought Kamara and Kelly should have been getting more touches all along, which, when coupled with Hurd's attitude, created a divide between the team.
Does anyone know if there is some sort of TV show similar to Extreme Makeover where football programs who are in over there head can go to get help change their offenses?
