I think we’re operating in a realm where recruiting is more like NFL free agency than the old days where you just stockpiled as much talent as you can get. Think about it… if all the important players on your roster expect to be paid at a certain level, everyone will be FORCED to come up short on a guy like Mauigoa at some point in order to operate within their budget for an entire roster. We very well could have made a strategic decision to cap our offer on FM based on the guys on our roster and/or the guys still on our list of targets. Just like NFL teams have to make tough decisions, we probably need to start thinking about recruiting like there’s a salary cap.
