I'm very happy for the young man to see the charges dropped, and the result is obviously good for the team and school.
However, I don't understand how his behavior for the coming 6 months should be tied to whether a crime happened in the past. It either did or didn't happen. It's seems like they're giving him probation / a punishment to call him innocent. Is this strange or counter intuitive to anyone else?
Does anyone with legal knowledge have insight into this? Is this outcome common?
