Why does he continue to say recruiting is going well and is/will be fine?

Anyone who knows me as a poster knows I try to be pretty level headed. But one thing that cannot be ignored is how we are being out-recruited in our division and in our conference.

Mathews typically is very realistic and very blunt about his opinions on things. But is he missing the boat on recruiting right now?

He rarely talks about prospects by name and addresses recruiting in very general terms. He does not seem like a guy who follows recruiting rankings and likely gets his info on our commitments from the staff... Is his opinion that this class is "fine" driven by the coaching staff being higher on their guys than the rest of the recruiting world?

FTR, I think we have some very good pieces in this class but are falling short with difference makers. We have good players everywhere, but I think you need difference makers to win big...
