I’ll admit, Coach K has annoyed me over the years. Especially when he and Paterno (about 3 months before Paterno’s empire came crumbling down) co-hosted an ESPN show about sportsmanship and doing the right thing.
But there’s no denying the game they played against a seemingly invincible UNLV team was the best college basketball has ever been. Those UNLV guys were what the Fab Five wished they were. UNLV was the real deal. They destroyed the same Duke team the year before. They had most of not all those guys back. Duke played a perfect game with some of the most all time tournament players ever. The game was played at the highest level. Coach K and his players gave the college basketball fan some awesome moments.
