Emory furloughs

We all got blindsided by an an email from the CEO a mere hour before the story broke on the local news. Significant paycuts and furloughs expected across many/most departments given $600+ million in lost revenue over the past two months. Department of anesthesia expected to take a not currently defined hit as well. The early emails make it seem as if there may be cut hours and rolling 1-2 week furloughs of staff and faculty to recoup losses. It’s possible but not clear that our incentive pay will be lost (makes up 20-25% of our salary). I got this email an hour before being asked to take another overnight Covid airway/intubation call shift next weekend. Nothing quite like hearing the impending hammer is coming and then being immediately asked to put my own health and the safety of my family directly in the line of fire yet again.
