It's a steamy one on the practice field today. Butch didn't treat us to any 'real football' today, but here are a few thoughts.
First off, it appears Butch's warning shot across Chance Hall's bow this weekend wasn't coach speak. Brett Kendrick looked to be getting a good bit of work with at right tackle with the 1st team OL. Now, that could be a motivational ploy to light a fire under Hall, but Jones clearly wasn't just talking to hear himself talk on that topic.
Shy Tuttle is still not in full gear (helmet and shoulder pads, but just shorts) but he looked like he was doing more today than I've seen him do to this point. Still just 'short burst' kind of drill work, getting out off the line and stuff and obviously no contact, but at least suggests he's heading in the right direction.
We've talked about it a lot, but the defensive ends continue to impress especially when you take into account the fact that Austin Smith, a really good looking prospect, is limited and still in a green jersey. Barnett is impressive to watch in practice, never takes a rep off, lots of positive chatter with teammates, just easy to see he sets the tone and gets a lot of respect.
Good to see Cam Sutton back today and apparently not in any kind of serious pain. He did have a small wrap on his wrist but was out there moving around fine and the first to take every rep in CB drills. Speaking of reps, noticed Justin Martin circling back a couple of times today to get in an extra rep in a drill with coach Martinez.
Martin and Moseley both made a couple of acrobatic plays today in DB drills just working against 'air' but showing some impressive ball skills and body control.
