Most of this is effort, want to, & fundamentals that would have easily won the game

1. 40 total minutes from our two centers and 6 and 5 rebounds btw them. That's not enough when Mashack got 6 playing just 18 minutes

2. JJJ, Mashack and Gainey 1-15 FG and 1-2 FT combined. That's a lot of softness and refusal to drive and score or get fouled for guys that are sized/ athletic enough to do that. That's how you lose a game like this in March and go home when you're struggling from 3. Two of those guys played a ton and there other has zero confidence from outside and even more reason to drive / get to paint at least

3. UTs whole team was 10-16 from the FT line vs an aggressive D. You didn't want it enough to get to the paint and especially the rim and either score or get to the FT line. MSU was 19-27.

4. Gainey didn't get a single rebound or assist or go to the FT line and was 0-5 with 1 turnover. How he got 1 steal I forget but without that steal he would have been playing for Miss St. He'd never take a 3 again in a game til he scored driving the ball to the rim/ FTs and score another from the paint, and get a rebound. That's how you get out of a slump.

As bad as UT played for the first half, if they rebound better, maybe get two more put backs (or stop Miss St from getting put backs), and get to the FT line more UT wins that game doing nothing else. Proud how they played the 2nd half and most of the effort esp with a hard press most the that 2nd half. Hopefully that shows Barnes this team might play better speeding up than waiting for the D to set 99/100 times slowing the ball up the court with the likes of ZZ. GBO!
