Paolo Banchero, the No. 2 ranked player among rising seniors, included the Vols in his six finalists, a group that also includes Gonzaga, Washington, Arizona, Duke and Kentucky.

Meanwhile, Memphis point guard Kennedy Chandler, the No. 10 prospect in the nation in 2021, cut his list down to five with Tennessee, Duke, Kentucky, Memphis and North Carolina.

One glance at the competition for those two prospects is all you need to see to know that the Vols are fishing in some deep waters.

Tennessee hosted both prospects on official visits on the same weekend last October and both have been open about the fact that they’ve discussed the possibility of playing together at the next level. If Tennessee could pull that off it would be a recruiting coup that would push the program to a whole other level.
