No question CPF loves UT. We all love him. He is a legend. His downfalls as a coach were making a bad hire (Clawson) OR not letting him do do his job as coordinator AND keeping some of his assistants too long (perhaps too loyal to them). This doesn't translate to success as an AD.
If we back up and look at the most important skills/tasks of an AD they are (1) making good coaching hires (2) addressing underperforming coaches (3) allocating money as appropriate to various sports programs (4) leading a staff of fundraisers.
Blackburn has shown the requisite skills and delivered results as an AD. Fulmer has not.
Let's hire Blackburn and ask Phil to help us with fundraising. Let's hope we don't wait too long on Blackburn.
