is a top notch hire… compare him to Mike Norvell… both came from 4 seasons as A HC at a non-Power 5 program where they won championships in relatively weak conferences… neither has nfl experience of any type, although they both bounced around as coordinators (Napier was fired by Dabo)… and the result for Norvell after taking Memphis to the Cotton Bowl is back-to-back losing seasons and an unlikely climb back into the top tier of CFB. Napier also served as McElwaine’s OC and did not fare well at ASU as OC. His offensive production at LL isn’t even in the top 50 nationally against weak competition, compared to UF which is 12th, and LL is 41st in Total Defense, again against weak competition. He is reported Bo be a “good recruiter” but the truth is that there is no evidence of this, beyond that a couple of good players signed with ALA when he was an assistant there. He has produced four mid-round players drafted into the nfl.
‘Sorry folks, I just don’t see it… help me understand just exactly what he brings to the table to compete against Kirby, Jimbo and Nick recruiting and on the field…Once again UF has settled for less than premium talent as HC. Given the short timeline he will be given, I fear a Mike Norvell-like next couple of years.
For those elated with this hire… enjoy it for now before you turn the knives on the guy next fall… now that Lincoln Riley is headed to USC and Luke Fickell is staying put until Ohio State boots Ryan Day…
