1. I am very happy I decided to go today .Considered skipping game today til I started reading all the negativity on here and seeing that some of the energy vampires were threatening to miss "as a protest". My wife was kind enough to agree to go on her birthday, took my seven year to her first Vol Walk, and we all had a good time.

.The crowd wasn't off as badly as I feared ,and I heard little of the negativity and hostility that marked Fulmer and Majors' last few games ,or Dooley's entire tenure .Everyone sitting around me seemed glad to be moving forward now that the last week is over.

.Read the post about the Vol Walk, found it ludicrous .I was there and didn't hear anyone yell at Butch except to express support.

.Got home at 9:30 and immediately cranked the dvr.I had read this board at supper, and was almost convinced Butch had flipped the fans off,or been audibly cursing.PEOPLE ARE MAKING A BIG DEAL OVER THIS?His "gesture " was not in the direction of the fans ,nor is his explanation implausible, nor can we be completely sure what he said.

.I responded yesterday to a thread asking who among us had coached.I spent four years on a headset in the pressbox while the OC was on the sideline and I spotted .A lot gets said on the headsets(gallows humor ,extremely abrasive kidding , and venting about fans ,players ,and officials ).I can see Butch responding that way if someone on his staff was questioning him about the field goal,or if he was angry about poor execution. In addition ,the fact that very few people booed lends plausibility to the idea that he was angry at T. Tech, not the fans .

.The gq ers calling for Butch's head because he "lost focus","let the fans get to him",or isn't level headed ,etc.etc. have obviously never coached .There is a vast difference between coaching in a tight game where every second counts, and being up 38-0 at the half.

.I rarely say anything bad about other posters ,nor do I usually reveal a lot of personal information.I have to say, though, that in 25 years working in education, including 9 years as a middle school administrator ,I have never encountered a group of 13 year old girls who were as silly ,petty ,overly dramatic ,or childish as some of the posters who were in a couple of these threads tonight.I'd say all of you know to which threads im referring.
