[This is a rant; enjoy it or leave the thread]
First off, Catelyn is the most worthless character of prominence in the entire show. She literally does nothing that helps her family, at all, ever. There's not one single act, other than hoping Brienne of Tarth would keep her oath after her death, that she does that ever benefits her children. She screws Robb by not being a mom for once and saying, "Screw the girl all you want, but you ain't marrying nobody" OR "Wait till the war is over, then nullify the marriage" OR "Wait till we get North of the Twins, then nullify the marriage." I mean, seriously, would Walder Frey care about Robb screwing another woman as long as he got his...no.
Then she releases the Kingslayer on a prayer, which leads to losing the Karstarks, because again, not being a good mom, she doesn't set her son straight, who is around 16 fyi, for the record. And mind you, she's a Tully, so she should know all about the Freys.
But before that, she leaves her 6 year old son and her 10 year old cripple son in Winterfell to "help" Robb and doesn't help at all. It then gets taken over because, surprise, no one is there to lead Winterfell or the North except a 10 year old cripple kid and a maester (whose allegiances may or may not be with the house they serve depending on who you believe).
Oh, she also falsely accuses Tyrion contributing to the war which ultimately will destroy both her house and her husband's house.
My word, she is terrible.
Moving forward, I also cannot get over how ineffectual her entire family is.
Let's review the relevant facts on each of the Tullys:
1) Lysa Tully - Need anything be said about a woman who breast feeds her 10 year old son and allows herself to be manipulated by a man who wanted her sister and took her as a cheap second-place prize en route to manipulating her, her entire family, and her sister's family so that he could take all their lands and marry her 16 year-old niece? I don't think there is. She single-handedly brings down the Seven Kingdoms to ride Littlefinger; need more be said.
2) Edmure Tully - Stupid, eager, haughty, and impulsive, Edmure significantly harms Robb's campaign in the Riverlands by doing his own thing. Then he gets captured at the Red Wedding; then hands over his ancestral seat to the Lannisters AFTER he's safely inside the castle...
3) Brynden "the Blackfish" Tully - Only gripe on the Blackfish is that he doesn't go North in Season 6 for whatever noble reason he's concocted.
4) Sansa Tully Stark - I really dislike Sansa. I hope she doesn't win anything, and for me to like her, I'm gonna need her to realize that she abandoned her family as far back as Season 1 and because she abandoned her family, her life has sucked. Going as far back as lying for Joffrey about the Direwolves and the Arya/Butcher's Boy episode and continuing until she royally screws Jon and makes him think that's all the men they have before waiting until everyone was about dead to unleash the near 10,000 men that somehow, some way have snuck all the way to Winterfell without tipping off a single sentry...
Moreover, her Red-hair and distinct Tully features put her squarely in the Catelyn category of worthlessness. For all the people who love Sansa, why? She's never done a single thing in the entire story to advance her family besides convincing Jon to send 2,500 people to their deaths so that she and Littlefinger could win the day.
I guess we'll also give her convincing Jon to get his $hit back together and retake the North.
But now she's all salty because everyone RIGHTLY saw that it was Jon, not Sansa, who really won the day by putting in that yeoman's work of weakening the Bolton forces to 15% of their strength before Sansa's troops could flank them.
So, with that said, screw Sansa and if she doesn't die, she better be all about the Starks. Sansa winning anything in GoT would be like a backup QB coming in for a injured starting QB in the 4th quarter of the Super Bowl and throwing a touchdown and being like, I did all this. NOPE.
In sum, the Tullys are the worst family in GoT. They suck at everything, and literally contribute nothing to the houses they ally with other than a target for enemies to focus on.
