Americans fought why they were starving,malaria,little water. The ships lost by us but the bravery of each man on these ships. Pivotal point in the Pacific war. The Japanese realised that they could not win the war. Sadly it continued for 3 more years. After months of horrific fighting the marines were allowed to depart, skin and bones with malaria and dysentery.
