...but we may have gotten another Jordan Young type steal.
I think it was @Jesse_Simonton who said on a pod maybe two weeks ago that Pruitt and the staff might have gone through some Southern all state lists and seen who was uncommitted and moved from there, especially if the kid fit their profile. So he made the LSWA Class 5A All-State Team.
From there, what do they look for:
1) Dual sport athlete - check, he's an MLB prospect
2) For a CB, length - check, he's 6'0
And check out this evaluation, which came before his senior year. I can't speak to the quality of the evaluator(s) but it's interesting nonetheless. It's also notable that he had an offer from CSU (Terry Fair). It's also likely that David Johnson knew about him, as he had a track record of bringing kids to Memphis who were really good players though they were underrecruited. And there's a real chance that Davis was thought to be MLB bound and therefore schools didn't spend time on him.
Look, I absolutely know that not everything in the dirt is a diamond. But I think there's enough here to be reasonably excited about this kid and for him to be more than an afterthought.
