There was a thread yesterday that mentioned Hendon’s stats and I realized that after the Pitt game he only threw 2 picks the rest of the way. In 11 games as a starter, two picks, which is incredible, hard to improve on that.

Anecdotally, I remembered the ball being in danger more frequently than that and realized it was fumbles. Was able to find a stat that he fumbled 9 times, 4 of which were lost, in 12 games.

Bryce Young - 5 Fumbles, 3 lost, 15 games.
Kenny Pickett - 4 fumbles, 3 lost, 13 games
Matt Corral - 3 fumbles, 2 lost, 12 games

Seems to me which team recovers the fumble is mostly luck, but for us to overachieve in the win loss column I think HH needs to keep the ball off the ground a little better as a runner and passer.

It’s not the end all be all, Dobbs in 2015 had 10 fumbles, losing 4, but it might be what separates good from great.

I know it isn’t all on Hendon, offensive line is to blame sometimes and last year him taking some risks as a runner gave us an advantage that offset the risk of fumbling that we were willing to live with, but it’s all about progress and this is an area that will merit watching I believe.
