As was previously mentioned on the board Kansas prospect Derrick Walker is coming in for an official visit. That visit starts today which means he'll be able to take in a practice as well as the game against Arkansas.

Walker is an unusual case in that he left the summer as a player most regarded as a mid-major prospect. In keeping with that he used four official visits to mid-major programs in the fall; Oral Roberts, Ball State, Illinois-Chicago and Akron.

Since that time he's popped up on the radar of several high majors and decided to delay his decision until the spring. Obviously, Tennessee has grabbed his fifth and final official visit. That would seem to put the Vols in good shape. However, from what I've been told he's in a position where paying his own way to take some unofficial visits isn't an obstacle. As of now I'm hearing that Georgia and St. Johns are two schools he could visit unofficially.

In talking to some people last week I got the impression that Tennessee would prefer to wait to get a better feel for where international prospect Yves Pons was in terms of making a decision before really pushing for Walker. In doing some more digging I'm no longer sure that's the case. I'm now leaning towards feeling that if Walker is ready to jump in the boat, the Vols would use their second and last spot in 2017 to take him.

We'll see how things play out, Walker has given some people the impression that he won't make a decision until he takes a couple of unofficials following this trip. Tennessee, I think, will be pushing to prevent that, but you have to think snagging the last official visit probably helps them here.

We'll keep following it and hopefully have a quick update on Wednesday after he concludes his trip.
