While i may be the worst poster on VQ i do not believe for a second this team could not have easily been a 20 win team based on skills alone but alas IMO Barnes had no player tough enough to lead this team emotionally. Turner was not it, Bowden was not it, Pons nope ! Faulky Came close to being the player Barnes thought he could be and have no doubts without him they would not be at 15 wins currently.. Simply put this years players could not replace the big 3 now in NBA..
There is also little doubts that this team is very very well coached and it had the Jr/Sr leadership that Barnes needed in helping the young guys learn the system but sadly that kind of leadership is never enough.. Instead - I am talking about tough-nose leaders like Admiral Schofield and Al Wilson brought to their teams.. Infact the 2020 Vols had one player who could have provided attitude and toughness but he mysteriously quit the team after a few games in the season. i hated to see Kent go!
What does the future Vols look like? One word- Great!
Once again we are seeing posters mentioning firing coach barnes or somehow blaming him for losses. To these people I ask- Are you really that dumb! He just landed one the best classes in Vols history after coming off the best season in Vols history.. And Barnes is no fool.. He didnt only land a great class in this years class but also the year before. And i believe even with losing Turner, Bowden, Faulky and others next years team is going to be special .. And NO I do not base this off next years 5 star recruits but on Gains ( My pre-season 2021 tough-guy MVP ), James, Pember,Nkamhoua and Vescovi ( My pick for 2021 best PG in SEC ) .. All of these players have the toughness Barnes needs and these are the true replacements for Grant, Bone, Schofield who all 3 are the best tough emotional leaders in Vols basketball program history .. So VQ be excited be very freaken excited because Barnes Vols is about to go on a 3-4 year run. And you better believe UK, AUB and rest of SEC know whats coming up at Tennessee.. They know and are right now praying like heck those two 5 star and one 4 star recruits are not as good as Rivals experts claim because if they are and mix well with the 5 current players all hell is about to break out in Knoxville! Get ready VolNation..
What Remains on 2020 season?
I ask again this question: 'Fire Coach Barnes" are you really that silly? Folks this line of thinking is just ignorance of understanding what a great team looks like compared to a good team compared to average team. And make no mistake the 2020 Vols could have won 20+ games if they had just one Grant or Bone on the roster as they should have. But sadly Thats the price of Barnes teaching the never quit , hard fighting players. They tend to leave for NBA earlier! .. This team could and should win the next 3 games providing they toughing-up , Bowden shoots aggressively and they play defense lights out from start to finish.. after all Barnes can coach them but cant play the game..
To my adoring fans who always show so much love and respect to us lowly uneducated types . My sincere apologies .. 20 wins and promise to quit was honest- Volman2010 would have quit at 20. But alas - Onward we go! ;-)
