This season had so much promise and hope...just don’t know how it unraveled so quickly. I’ve been a proponent of Butch, but he needs to make some changes and become more flexible/adaptable or he won’t be here in a couple of years.

Not a fan of kids transferring mid-season, but I can’t knock them for doing what they think is best for them. If Jalen’s heart truly wasn’t in it anymore, why should he stay? I think it’s a bigger betrayal to your teammates to “half-ass” it rather than to transfer mid-season.

Don’t know Jalen personally or if there were any off the field issues w/him, but I never got the feeling he tanked it or wasn’t committed during his tenure. He seemed like (and was portrayed as) a very hard worker who played extremely hard for the team. I can understand his frustration w/the offense not maximizing his strengths (as many on the GQ have said for years) especially if the coaching staff told him they’d do so. The offense would be better if they implemented/utilized some other looks. Dude took a beating here and ran for a lot of tough yards…I have no gripe w/him.

Furthermore I respect the fact he felt a positon change was best long term (as many on the GQ have said as well). Not many kids at his level are that humble to acknowledge that (ask Tebow). Funny how quickly Jalen was once considered one of the Vol’s best all time backs, now he’s “soft and terrible”.

Either way, no one knows what really happened behind the scenes…the truth is always somewhere in the middle. I wish Jalen well and hope he prospers wherever he lands. Unfortunately for Butch, he’s lost a lot of credit he’s built up. I hope he can right the ship.

Man…it’s tough being a Vols fan. GBO!
