. . .improves for next year:
Bone needs to work like Admiral and Punter all off season on improving his ability to penetrate, stop and shoot the 5 foot shot or get all the way to the basket and score in amongst the bigs. Both are practiced skills and Bone can be one of the best guards in the SEC if he works at this.
Kyle Alexander needs to add weight, strength and confidence to go along with two go to offensive moves. First a turn around jumper from 8 feet and in. Shoulder dip, opposite spin and shoot. And secondmy he needs to get deadly from the free throw area and in allowing high low post with Grant Williams or whomever one of the other big burly 4s post low.
Walker needs to transform his body and work on taking defenders off the dribble in similar developmental trajectory to Grant Williams. They have very similar raw skill sets and that will become more apparent as Walker gets into better shape.
Johnson needs to develop his Offensive game, specifically drawing defenders out to the perimeter and driving by them off the wing and finishing strong at the basket.
Fulkerson needs to get back to the offensive form he showed as a freshman and work on his agility and footwork. He was impressive driving to the basket as a frosh and can give the VOLS another potential penetration threat which they sorely need.
If these 5 players can make significant strides in these areas, it will go a long way toward stopping the scoring droughts as when you are struggling shooting you always want to drive to the basket. You then either get an easy shot or a foul. Currently Lamonte Turner and Admiral are the only remote threats at getting into the lane from the perimeter and that inability means when you take away, Grant as Loyola did today you have to hit threes and often contested threes. This is the reason for the scoring droughts.
If those players sited above make jumps in their game this team will be one of the best in country easily next year.
