It may be worth considering that perhaps there is more to this situation. I wonder if Hurd's long standing issues with concussions may play a really strong roll in what is happening right now. Hurd was not reinserted into the game and in the first quarter while blocking he got blasted pretty good on a rather cheap shot in my opinion. At the time of the block I said to my better half I wonder if they are trying to get Hurd out of the game knowing that he has this history of concussions. Sure enough he doesn't play the second half.
If as I believe is a very real possibility, Hurd has had multiple concussions this season as he has in the last two seasons did the medical staff and coaching staff suggest that he give up football?
Really does it make any sense that Hurd is unhappy and transferring with 4 games left in his junior (draft eligible) season and there is no issue other than him being unhappy?
Frankly, I hope he and his family really consider his future and I don't mean in football, I mean in life.
