i continue seeing, hearing people talk about this being the worst offensive line in the history of football, and while I won’t completely disagree with that, it literally is in direct conflict with the other narrative that is pushed saying, “of this staff gets good players, they’ll win, etc”.
This group is so disjointed and constantly uncomfortable looking that it’s easy to see there’s a disconnect somewhere. Heck, wells had them looking far better last year than right now. In fact, look before the avalanche of injuries and tell me that was worse.
Tell me that the schemes employed by Larry Scott were in any way worse than the awful crap you’ve seen up to this point.
Receivers are better. Jg is better. Defense is more fundamentally sound, just completely void of playmakers until the backend.
No, this is coaching, plain and simple. I’m not saying it can’t/won’t get better because it will, but stop acting like this staff isn’t completely culpable.
I’ll show you what is easily considered the worst group on the field and I implore you to remember, it was thought this group would be the “strength of this team” early on.
Trey smith rivals ranking =6.0 4 star.
Sure hasn’t played that way. I know it’s sacreligious to talk negatively about him but he’s bad, reaaaaaaal bad right now. Why? Because he has no talent? Oh, I know it’s because he missed a lot of time. Him, being what some called “the best player in the country” shouldn’t struggle this badly over missed time. I suspect he’s pretty banged up and playing out of position. This isn’t his fault. He is playing where they tell him to. Team player and all. Nah, this falls on the staffs shoulders.
Jamir Johnson rivals ranking= 5.7 3 star.
Jamir is ok but simple physics tell you this ain’t gon be good. A force that weighs 270 against a force that weighs 330, isn’t a fair match. Now, this isn’t his fault, he needs time to grow. The fact that he’s on the field is the fault of, you guessed it, this staff..
Ryan Johnson rivals ranking= 5.8 4 star
Goodness, have you seen this cat get into a stance? Looks like a cow that is calving and needs help. Good mind, says all the right things. Great interview, team guy, loves the orange, doesn’t help the orange win football games, in fact, causes them detriment with his inability to move. Again, not his fault, as this staff has to see these limitations as well and continue to trot him out there so, the blame lies solely with them.
Jerome carvin rivals ranking= 5.8 4 star.
Well, do you watch the games? So, you see when Jerome pulls, he gets in space and looks absolutely like a new fawn that struggles to get their legs and know it should run but eyes get to big to engage the feet. Why continue to pull with him? The other side pulls really well, but you don’t pull him... Jerome gets credit for being good in pass pro, but I’d argue any guard should. Hell, you literally have nowhere to move to, and the players come to you. Fairly simple. No, he’s not terrible and will only improve but the being lost isn’t on him, he doesn’t decide to pull him. Nope, again, this A+ staff are the ones behind that Rhodes scholar effort.
Drew Richmond rival raniking= 6.1 5 star.
Well........... I’ve seen people say he had a pretty good game. We will just have to agree to disagree. There were at least 6 times in pass pro, he literally did not touch, never put a hand on his guy. How in the literal shit is that possible? Yea, me either.

This staff on the offensive side isn’t good save David Johnson. In fact they are bad.. reallllllly bad. The talent is there. It’s always been there. Stop saying it isn’t. They are disjointed and don’t know what to do. That’s a coaching issue.

I can’t count the number of times we had one, to several guys who didn’t block a damn soul. Hard to fathom but true.
All of that said, here’s how bad Florida is.... we outgained them in every way you can. 6 turnovers cost us the game, but again, that is coaching. Bad play calling, and general disinterest from all parties.
