The only real issue I have is continually starting and playing 2 bigs. And in the 2nd half, we finally committed to the JJJ at the 4 and we didn't lose anything on the glass and we played stellar defense. I guess I would like to see more BHH with that lineup, I was surprised Powell didn't get more run and I would like to see us push the ball more rather than let the defense get set.
But I think we took good shots. There were, like every game, a few that would be considered bad shots but for the most part we took solid shots. I'm fine with Santi firing away from 3 all game. I want ZZ to take every open 3 he can get. I do think our guys were affected by the length and sped up a little. Tech plays some great defense and maybe that affected our guys.
That strategy, as far as I'm concerned, was fantastic. Just have to make shots. Get the ball up the court quicker and try to get the ball to the hoop before the defense is set. But otherwise, just make shots and be tougher with the ball when going to the hoop.
So only real criticism I have is rotation. I love Fulky as a guy but I don't know that he's the best option for us for that many minutes. Playing JJJ or Santi at the 4 is the lineup. Maybe get a little more creative and run some ball screens with small to small or a screen by our big followed up with a screen by a small. But we got plenty of open shots.
I hope Rick continues to commit to this way of playing, but just speeds it up a little.
