I think many fans are assuming this football team is better in 2022 than this past season. I'm not convinced that's the case. There are some huge holes to fill, and Heupel is going to have to get some big time help from the portal if 2022 is going to be better than 2021. That's obviously not off to a great start but still a pretty good bit of time. The defense, at least to me, looks worse right now than this past season. Losing Jackson, Taylor and Butler is a pretty big deal, in my opinion, and there are still no answers at safety or linebacker and Hadden and Burrell didn't exactly leave fans with much to be optimistic about.
The offense desperately needs another receiver and a right tackle. Another running back would be nice as well but isn't as emergent as some other needs. I don't know, I just have a hard time seeing 2022 being better than 2021 unless Tennessee can get some big-time transfers.
