The post-season is must see TV. It’s fun. It’s exciting. But it’s not representative of the best teams winning all the team. Basketball has a natural amount of parity.
For all the “good” the post-season offers is taken away from the regular season being borderline meaningless.
Syracuse’s post season success comes to mind, as well as this years Michigan. Bubble teams that were underachievers all year long but win a few games in March so all is forgiven.
I’m not necessarily advocating for change. I do wish the media and the average fan would value the regular season more, but other than your basketball enthusiast that’s not realistic.
